Victorious Faith
When people hear of how I gave up the business to go into ministry with a stay-at-home wife and six children, they often remark, "Wow, you have great faith!" Whilst that statement sounds nice and complimentary, let's not miss the stark and revealing truth behind it: Great faith is useless without a great God!
Indeed, our faith is totally dependent upon who God is, what God says, and what God is able to do! That's what faith is all about. Many people believe but they don't really know what they believe or who they believe in. No wonder we have the term, blind faith. Faith in God is not like that at all. Faith in God is based on the very person of God and the trustworthiness of His Word.
An Unchanging God In Mal 3:6, God says, "For I am the LORD, I do not change;" His character and nature do not change. He is consistent in all His ways and totally reliable. This aspect of God is so critical for Christians to know, understand and accept. The world may rock and shake but nothing surprises God at all. Because He never changes, His plan will prevail and His principles also stand the test of time. Our faith in God must first be premised on this very aspect found in the personhood of God.
His Unfailing Word Because we serve an unchanging God, we can trust in His unfailing Word. God is Truth. He cannot lie! Whatever He says, stands! It's as simple as that. Numbers 23:19 declares, "God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?" This does not mean one can take any verse in the bible and claim it for our own. We must understand that It is God's plans that God's words are sent forth to accomplish. Put another way, if I am walking in God's plans, I can most definitely stand on God's Word.
My Unwavering Faith As I align myself with God's purposes and plans, I am availing myself to be used by Him that His plans may be fulfilled through me. That opens the way for faith to release the promises of God in my life! When I seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, all things will be added to me (Matt 6:33). When I lay hands on the sick, I shall see them healed (Mark 16:18). When I give to the work of the ministry, God shall supply my need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Phil 4:19).
We began by saying that great faith is useless without a great God! Who is God to you? Is His Word good to you? Can you trust His promises? God's plan is one that is truly victorious! Whatever He says, goes! If you believe that, and align yourself and your faith accordingly to that plan, you will also be victorious and prosperous in every area of your life. That is victorious faith!
